![]() ![]() This comes as bad news to Laura’s leech of a husband, Dylan (Adrian Paul), who needs his wife’s money to finance his gambling habit. Now out in the modern world, she seeks to reconnect with her birth mother, Laura (Stringfield), a wealthy socialite who early on is presented with a fatal cancer diagnosis. Leclerc plays Katie, who was “shunned” by the Amish community that raised her in the first film. It’s also enough of a stand-alone story one needn’t have thrilled to part one to join the buggy ride. To the rest of the world, this Hallmark Channel movie derived from the second of Lewis’ “The Heritage of Lancaster County” books is distinguished by possessing slightly more edge than the network’s standard fare, and a solid tandem in Katie Leclerc (“Switched at Birth”) and Sherry Stringfield (was “ER” really that long ago?) as its leads. ![]() For the hardy few to whom “Beverly Lewis’ The Confession” really is the much-anticipated sequel to “The Shunning,” its arrival is no doubt good news. ![]()

But if you’re a big HP fan, you’ll enjoy any sliver of writing Rowling throws your way, and that goes for this as well. Definitely recommend this collection just because of that story, however, the rest of it is nothing special. ![]() My favorite bit in the collection was the story on Slughorn, which again is one of the most fascinating characters in the books for me. Also there is a story here on Ministers of Magic, which was kind of boring, and I did not really like it. There’s a bit here on Umbridge which I really enjoyed, because I find her character fascinating. I just felt like all the stuff thrown in was random and did not make sense together at all, so that’s why I enjoyed it a little less. This was my least favorite in the collection. Short Stories from Hogwarts of Power, Politics and Pesky Poltergeists I read all three of them back to back, so I am gonna tell you how I liked each of them and what I think of the concept as a whole. So a little while back, Pottermore (the site for all things HP, like House sorting or Patronus determination) launched a short story collection that mushed together all sorts of writing that J. Noah wants to provide for and protect Kate, and, because of his physical scarring, is pretty sure she’ll despise and pity him. I really liked the conflicts Ms St.John set up in this book. Kate’s also pregnant with Noah’s brother’s child, and Noah wants to ensure that the child remains in his life so it can inherit the Rockin’ C ranch. Noah Cutter, physically scarred and thus wary of people, takes in Kate, the widow of his flamboyant brother, because Kate needs a place to live. This is a pretty simple story, with no extras like a suspense thread or paranormal elements, and I really liked that. Whoever recommended the book certainly didn’t steer me wrong, and I’m going to be eagerly reading more of Ms. I know that Sybil adores her, and after a run of particularly “meh” western romances, I picked this book off the TBR pile.
